Hello my fellow beauty lovers!
I used to dye my hair all the time, and I've only recently gotten back into it (hello, newly developed grey hairs!). I remembered that I always used the Garnier hair dye, so I thought I'd give it a try and review it!
I chose medium golden mahogany brown because it's summer time, and I wanted to add richness and a more golden tone to my hair. This hair dye is affordable, gentle, and easily accessible for me. It's also really easy to use, and doesn't drip all over the place.
My hair is extremely long, so I needed to use two boxes. You can see that my hair was two different colours to begin with. My natural hair colour is a light brown (at the top) and the ends of my hair were previously dyed a medium brown shade.
You can see how much red is in this dye before it's even finished. I was a little bit worried even while the dye was processing, because I didn't really want my hair to turn out red at this point because I'm going to be getting married soon, and I wanted my hair to be a more natural looking shade.
This is the finished colour. You can see it's more of an auburn than a golden brown, but I guess that's why they throw the word 'mahogany' in there, to confuse you. Or at least, I was a little confused. The outcome is DEFINITELY more red than the model's hair on the box, so I was a bit surprised by that.
While I liked the colour I ended up with, it wasn't what I was expecting and it was also uneven. The top of my hair was a LOT more red than the bottom. I dyed my hair a few weeks ago now, and my hair is already extremely faded and I can see greys coming through already. I will be trying a different brand next time and I'm not sure if I'd go back to this one again ...
